Versus

Overall this album really satisfied my need for crunchy, brain scratching and fun sounds, that I think will have a permanent place on my mp3 player. I don’t think it would sound particularly realistic if I said how many times I’d listened to ‘Unleashed!!’ since I found it, the loud and driving bassline in the beginning immediately gets me so hyped and then the vocals are so fun and choppy. With some personal insight, knowing this song was written about a puppy boy the artist knows makes a lot of sense obviously but also it makes me want to be a good puppy, and also tear shit up. The rest of the album is similarly inspiring.

overall

I am once again begging artists to post their lyrics, I struggle to understand them sometimes and hey I know this girl, maybe I’ll bother it and post them myself :)

Here are my thoughs on individual songs, totally unfiltered, from a first listen. I include these because theyre fun:

Ressurection of the Apostate

I like the buzzing sound in the intro, its cute, arps are fun n sweeping! Oh we’re a lil spooky 3+3+3+3+2+2 rhythm is fun staccato bits @1:43 are cool, then transitioning to very legato kick drum and bees! Fun ending

Molten Fangs

Oooo piano, keeping the spooky and the simple noise snares are cool oh the heavily modulated synth lead is cool love the bass doubling it rhythmic boops! strings + noise percussion is so fucking good, weird combo

Unleashed!!

Yeaaaaaaaahh! Bass and that super snappy snare and the hats? ugh woof :3 that brassy synth at 0:53 is fun, the ascending scale part is fun, i love all the cheesy brass synths, the midi ass bass is so fun “You’ve been a very good boy” Hell yreah i have! The slidey brass parts and near extrememly tricky sounding glisses and syncronization are so cool The outro just pushing and pushing is really good

Funeral of the Apostate

Reeaaaalll spooky here, wouldnt be suprised if we got “bones rattling.wav” in here somewhere the washy shore noises and bells are very evocative

and a bonus single? sure!

Low-Res Rapture

I love a chopped vocal and this does it so well, adding little bits until the rhythm of the section is clear then blurring it out with reverb to death. Genuinely wonderful and this song has been playing in my head since I heard it the first time, it just tickles my brain perfectly in the same way some of the songs Patricia Taxxon does make me (Cilantro Mixture, With My Tail to the World, and Bocce come to mind, though the vibes are pretty different.) I want to listen to it a hundred more times tonight though, and maybe I will! :3 Thanks for the really good music, April, I appreciate it a lot.
